A note from our Managing Director, Lucy McMann\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

I was introduced to James through someone who we both mutually knew. I was very interested in what James offered as soon as I heard about him! I think any sort of creative approach to educating key and fundamental areas of life to our young people, is something that should be instantly shouted about!\u00a0<\/i><\/p>

We advocate for, and embed, engaging creative, interest based methods to learning at SENse and James offer certainly does that. Read a short introduction from James about his brilliant company and offer!\u00a0<\/i><\/p>

My name is James. I live in West Sussex.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

I am the founder of\u00a0All Rise Workshops<\/strong>, which empowers young people\u2019s futures and elevates their aspirations through legal workshops in primary and secondary schools.\u00a0<\/p>

I was a solicitor for 15 years before retraining as a school teacher. I taught for 12 years<\/p>

I deliver a variety of legal workshops which are practical, hands on and great fun. They include a host of group activities (including a mock crown court trial) which aim to develop young people\u2019s key transferable skills in areas such as communication, problem solving, critical thinking and leaderships.<\/p>

My goal is to deliver 100 workshops by the end of this academic year, which will positively impact the lives of 5000 young people. I have three key objectives for the workshops:<\/p>

  1. Too many people leave school with little or of grasp of their basic legal rights, our justice system or how to navigate a legal problem. I want to empower our young people to be informed citizens. I want them to understand; why law matters, their rights and responsibilities and how to access justice. I want them have greater respect for the rule of law and our public institutions.\u00a0<\/li>
  2. From an early stage, young people develop self-limiting beliefs which impact on their opportunities and chances later on. I want to raise young people\u2019s expectations and aspirations, showing them that anything is possible with hard work and the right attitude. Social mobility is central to what I do.\u00a0<\/li>
  3. Career related learning, especially in primary years offers huge benefits. It broadens horizons, challenges stereotypes and connects learning with futures.<\/li><\/ol>
